According to Goldman Sachs analyst Scott Peterson, father of two kids who play Fortnite and stone-age caveman who still capitalizes the S, esports is set to be a $30 billion industry by 2023.
In his latest research report, Peterson, a man with no regard whatsoever for the Associated Press style guide, shares groundbreaking research by the Wall Street investment firm. Among his key observations are that “Asia’s online population dwarfs other regions by far” and “most U.S. viewers are tuning in via Twitch & YouTube.”
He goes on to add that the “majority of esports revenue comes from sponsorships,” a somewhat controversial topic within esports, which is definitely spelled with a lowercase s.
When asked why he didn’t simply quote NewZoo’s figures like everyone else in the industry, Peterson, a true butcher of the English language, cited his firm’s decades long expertise in E-gaming.
